Allowing Imported Drugs Could Be Dangerous

Some members of Congress want to open up the pharmaceutical market to imported medicines, ignoring the potential outcome Maine faced when it did the same thing four years ago. In 2013, Maine legalized the importation of foreign drugs, until it was discovered that some of the imported drugs were inferior to U.S. standards. Legislators claim that allowing importation could bring down drug costs, but even with this possible opportunity, the chance of counterfeit drugs in the market creating dire consequences is even greater.
