Executive Order Provides Expanded Mental Health Services for Veterans Transitioning from Uniformed to Civilian Life
President Trump signed an Executive Order intended to provide greater mental health services to veterans during their first-year transition period from uniformed service to civilian life. Veteran suicide rates in the first year of separation from uniformed service are nearly two times higher than the overall veteran suicide rate. Although widely recognized as a critical need, some legislators expressed concerns about funding the program, which is estimated to cost $200 million a year. Read more here.
