Repealing the ACA Could be ‘Akin to Armageddon’ for People with Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) includes mental health as an “essential benefit” that insurers must cover at the same level as other medical care for the 20 million people covered under the ACA’s exchanges and Medicaid expansion. A full repeal of the ACA could leave millions of Americans with mental health and substance use disorders without access to adequate treatment in the midst of an opioid overdose epidemic. More here.
